In every temptation that comes our way (sometimes we take ourselves to the temptation, which we shouldn’t) God always provides a way out. No matter what the enemy tries to do or use to make us sin, God ALWAYS has a way out for us. This is the Way of Escape. The enemy has a counterfeit way of escape and wants us to settle for what is not God’s will and way. When it comes to the Way of Escape, Satan tries to present a way out that is not a way out at all but is instead a trap to still fall into temptation and sin.
No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. (1st Cor 10:13 NKJV)
If doing something to get out of a difficult situation or of a particular temptation will cause you to commit sin (even though that sin might appear smaller compared to the initial temptation), then it is not God’s Way of Escape. Another way a Way of Escape could not really be the way God intends is if it might not be sin but it is easier to do despite not being God’s will or God’s best for you. For example, if you are facing the temptation of sex outside marriage and you think that the Way of Escape is to get married to the person you are currently in a relationship with. This might look okay and it is but only if that is the person that is God’s best for you. It might be easier to just get married and avoid having sex outside marriage but was getting married to that particular person the way out? What if you need money and a way presents itself that involves a corrupt deal? If it leads to sin, does not please God or is not God’s will, it is not the way out. God’s grace is always sufficient for us to take the Way of Escape that He presents.
The easy way is not always the Way of Escape. I pray that you will take the Way of Escape that God provides and not the way that you create for yourself or the enemy presents to you.
God Bless You!
